Old Home Days a success for library

WEST PARIS – Old Home Days weekend proved to be a success and a lot of fun for the “Little Castle,” the West Paris Library, said staff.

Thanks to the creative abilities of Librarian Patty Makley and Ann Toepker, the library float, with the theme “Gone Reading,” received a trophy in the most creative category. A boat decorated with flying balloons sported three librarians fishing for books.

Also, as part of the library entry, Brandon Dunn and Tabitha Haney carried the library banner, “Little Castle, Big Heart,” accompanied by Benton Shattenberg on his stilts, who garnered the trophy for the tallest person in the parade.

During another event, four authors chatted with visitors and signed copies of their works. They were Eva Ward, A. Sayward Lamb, Dr. Harry L. Harper and Judy Green. Light refreshments were served by Friends of the Library.

The black fly raffle was held again this year in conjunction with Old Home Days and funds were raised for the library building fund.
