FARMINGTON – Voters in the nine SAD 9 towns went to the polls Tuesday to act on a proposed $23.7 million school budget.

WIth results from all SAD 9 towns except Vienna, all thirteen questions on the school referendum appear to have passed. WIlton and New Sharon voters passed all questions.

In Farmington, all budget items were approved. Most passed with a three to one margin. Temple and Weld also approved all budget questions.

Chesterville voters passed most, except for three dealing with $1,211,074 for additional local funds, $1,968,497 for leadership including administration and the district superintendent’s office, and $1,029,081 required to honor capital debt obligations. A tie vote of 43-43 was counted on question 4, which authorizes spending of the proposed $23,776,097 budget.

Industry also saw a tie – 45-45 – on question 7, the $1,968,497 earmarked for leadership. Industry also refused 35-12 to authorize school directors to spend additional state, federal or other funds received during the fiscal year.

Voters in New Vineyard rejected four of the 13 budget questions – to raise and appropriate additional local funds, for $2,492,790 for instructional support, for leadership funds for money to operate and maintain schools. Other questions passed by close margins.
