DERRY, N.H. (AP) – A century-old maple tree that’s said to have inspired poet Robert Frost is about to be cut down.

The tree is so rotted it’s become a hazard.

Laura Burnham, chairwoman of the Robert Frost Farm Board of Trustees, says the tree adds to the beauty of the farm property and is believed to have inspired some of Frost’s writing there in the early 1900s. But she worries a limb might fall on a visitor, so the tree will be felled soon.

Frost lived at the farm from 1900 to 1911.
