LEWISTON – A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Sister Marie Sylvie Pare, OP on Monday at Holy Cross Church after prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. Sister Sylvie’s brother, the Rev. Paul Pare was the main celebrant along with concelebrants, the Rev. Daniel Greenleaf, the Rev. Andrew Dubois, the Rev. Burt Poussard, the Rev. Armand Neault, Monsignor Robert Lavoie, the Rev. Frank Morin, the Rev. Georges Plante, the Rev. Richard Senghas, the Rev. Maurice Morin, the Rev. Laurent LaPlante. Also in attendance were Deacon Aaron Damboise as well a delegation of Dominican Sisters. At the beginning of Mass the placing of the pall was by Louis and Thomas Pare as well as Sister Monica Dubois, OP and Bibiane Roy who also placed the Book of Word on the pall. Readers were Andre Pare, Sister Monica Dubois, OP; and Sister Mary Marcotte, OP who brought the gifts to the altar along with Louise Roy and Marguerite Roy. Words of remembrance were by the Dominican Provincial Sister Monique Belanger, OP. After a procession to St. Peter’s Cemetery, Father Pare recited committal prayers along with his fellow priests at St. Peter’s Cemetery Chapel, and during the singing of “Salva Regina,” Sister Sylvie’s fellow Dominican Sisters blessed her casket with holy water as a final tribute to her.
