LEWISTON – Priscilla Murphy, 83, formerly of South Portland and Westbrook, died Tuesday, June 12, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, surrounded by her loving family. She had an artistic flair that she loved to share with her family and many friends.
She was born in Portland, Feb. 26, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Madeline “Fernald” McDonough. She attended Deering High School.
She married Alfred S. Murphy on Oct. 1, 1943. She worked as a pharmacy technician in Millcreek for more than 20 years, retiring from CVS in Westgate.
She was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church in South Portland.
Survivors include her children, Michael, and wife, Kathleen Murphy, of Lewiston, George, and wife, Gale Murphy, of South Portland, Deborah “Murphy” and Kenneth Knight of Westbrook and John, and wife, Susan Murphy, of Sanford; grandchildren, Michael Murphy Jr., Matthew Murphy, George Murphy Jr., Josh Pierce, Kenneth Knight Jr. and Stephen Carignan; great-grandchildren, Jessah Pierce, Drayvin Pierce, Meagan Murphy, Shea Murphy, Jordann Bessey, Jacob Bessey and Erin Murphy; sisters, Mary Jane Noyes of Westbook, Madeline Page of Portland and Ellen Vargas of Portland; and brother, John McDonough of Lewes, Del.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Murphy; daughter, Margaret Murphy; two brothers, Thomas McDonough and Frank McDonough; and granddaughter, Kendra Knight.
The family would like to extend their thanks for the loving care their mother received from the doctors, nurses and staff at d’Youville and Beacon Hospice.
The loving attention she received and gave back to the animals ‘Ginger the cat and Sparky the dog” was some of the best mental therapy she received daily.
