LEWISTON – Ruth B. Ray Chapman, 90, formerly of 200 Stetson Road, Auburn, died Tuesday, June 12, at the Marshwood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for the past month.

She was born in Lewiston, Nov. 4, 1916, a daughter of the late John Q. and Winnibel Wormwood Abbott. She graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1934.

She was a member of the High Street Congregational Church and served as trustee at the Auburn Home for Aged Women, now the Chapman House.

She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed doing crafts.

She will be remembered for her beautiful personality and smile.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Ray, and wife, Constance, of Auburn and Daniel A. Ray, and wife, Harriet, of Eustis, Fla.; stepson, Neal Chapman, and wife, Kim, of Roseville, Minn.; and her grandchildren, Steven, Susan and Christopher Ray.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edgar E. Ray; second husband, Kendrick J. Chapman; two brothers, Guy and Lyman Abbott; and two sisters, Marguerite Ames and Evelyn Rich.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Schooner Estates, where she resided for nine years, the staff at Hospice House and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and the staff at Marshwood Center for Healthcare, all of whom treated her with kindness, love and respect.
