AUBURN – Auburn Teen Library Advisers (ATLAS) are planning Teen Summer Reading 2007 at the Auburn Public Library. All teens in the area are welcome to attend activities and participate in keeping track of their reading throughout the summer.

TSR2007 will begin with “Origami II” at 6 p.m. Monday, June 25. Sharon Hawkes will return to bring squares of paper to life by folding them into intricate designs and models. Hawkes will also suggest ways to use origami models as jewelry, decorations and toys. A Teen Open Mic night will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 29. Musicians, singer/songwriters, spoken word artists and comics are invited to perform. ATLAS will meet at 4 p.m. Thursdays, June 28 and July 26. It meets monthly throughout the year. ATLAS is open to all teens who are interested in planning library services and activities for teens.

The Anime Club will meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 11 and July 25. It also meets twice a month during the year. Jay Fiori, resident anime artist, chats and share tips. Fiori will also be on hand from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, for a full three-hour workshop where he will go into more detail with anime art techniques and discuss manga comics and characters.

On Monday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. there will be a pizza party/book swap where teens can trade books they are ready to part with and get new ones to read. There will be a chance to win a year’s worth of free movie tickets to Flagship Cinema. All activities are free and refreshments are served. There are door prizes at most. A special feature of the TSR2007 will be the prizes for keeping track of reading this summer. Read three books and teens receive collectible coins, free books/comic books and coupons to local eateries.
