FARMINGTON – Theda Madducks Marble, 89, of North Jay, died Tuesday, June 12, at Franklin Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Edgewood Manor for the last two years.
She was born in Albion, July 21, 1917, a daughter of Harry and Etta Springer Madducks. She received her education in Wilton schools and graduated from Wilton Academy in 1934. She later attended nursing school at Maine General Hospital (Maine Medical Center) in Portland.
On July 11, 1937, she married Herbert Marble Jr. He died March 29, 1989. She was employed in the family business, Marble Model Cleaners and at Forster Manufacturing, retiring in 1981. Throughout the years, she worked as a private nurse for relatives and friends. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing piano, crossword puzzles and the outdoors.
She was a former Girl Scout leader and a former member of the Wiltona Club and the Thimble Club and a member of the First Church of Christ in Wilton since 1931.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynne E. Piper, and her husband, Donald, of Gainesville, Fla.; sons, Timothy, and his wife, Diane, of Lee, Christopher of Lewiston, Brian of Wilton and Thomas, and his wife, Michele, of Wilton; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nieces; six nephews; brother-in-law, Harlan Marble, and his wife, Millicent, of Wilton.
She was predeceased by a son, Waldron in 1946; and her husband in 1989.
