LEWISTON – Jeannette Provencal, 67, of Greene, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 12, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born in Warwick, R.I., Feb. 4, 1940, the daughter of Mary Gibeau and Omar Gibeau. She spent most of her life caring for family and loved ones and had numerous occupations.

She has worked as a nurse in Indiana, as a waitress at Graziano’s Restaurant and a cook at Willie’s Restaurant in Lisbon. She most recently worked for Country Kitchen in Lewiston, before retiring in 2003.

She loved life, especially nature and particularly enjoyed camping and traveling in northern Maine. She was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in spending time with her family. She was a loving partner, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was the cornerstone of her close-knit family and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her partner of 25 years, Norman Laroche; two daughters, Cindy Knight of Farmington and Lisa Provencal of Greene; sisters, Donna Meglio, Lucy Cerbo and Claire Murray, all of Florida; and brother, Raymond of Rhode Island.

She was predeceased by her son, Louis Provencal, in 2005.
