Gov. John Baldacci listens as Nicholas Galati from Mt. Vernon Elementary School describes the book he is reading. Nicholas was one of 17 third-, fourth- and fifth-graders who visited the governor’s office to be recognized as the top readers in the Kennebec Valley Book Award Program. The program was developed by the Maranacook Area Schools – Manchester Elementary School, Readfield Elementary School, Wayne Elementary School and Mt. Vernon Elementary School. It encourages students to read and report on books they have read.
