LEWISTON – Adolph “Sonny” Gagnon, 80, of 35 West Waterman Road, Auburn, died Friday, June 15, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Born in Auburn on May 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph and Fredalina Lefevre Gagnon. He attended Edward Little High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a city carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 25 years.
He was a member of the Auburn Catholic community at St. Philip’s Church and volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, outdoor activities, his ’48 Chevy, and his camp in Andover.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and especially family gatherings.
Adolph will be remembered for the many hours he volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gisele Lemay, of Auburn, whom he married Oct. 18, 1952; two daughters, Claire Hamilton and husband, Ray, of Livermore, and Claudette Hall and husband, Doug, of Durham; three sons, Gary Gagnon and wife, Shirley, of Turner, Ronald Gagnon and wife, Helene, of Raymond, and Matthew Gagnon and wife, Michele, of Conway, N.H.; his son-in-law, Mark Lovering of Livermore; grandchildren, Joshua Lovering and fiancée, Brandi Maher, Gregory Lovering, Zachary Hamilton and wife, Katherine, Nathan Hamilton, Sarah Hamilton and fiancé, Kyle Herr, Ethan Peters, Allison Hall, Jason Gagnon, Jennifer Gagnon and fiancé, Kevin Saupp, and Kyle, Alison, Drew, Travis and Evan Gagnon; three sisters, Lorraine Caron of Sabattus, Muriel Keenan of California, and Midgie Nolin of Maryland; two brothers, Henry Gagnon and wife, Marilyn, of Minot, and Joseph Gagnon and wife, Cecile, of Auburn.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Joline Lovering in 1995; three sisters, Kilda Gagnon, Lena Bassett and Bella Butcher; and two brothers, Raymond and Robert Gagnon.
