LEWISTON – Leon G. “Sonny” Therriault Jr., 69, of Kimball Avenue in Mexico, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 16, at CMMC.
He was born in Farmington on June 20, 1937, a son of Helen (Fabian) and Leon G. Therriault Sr.
He was educated in Dixfield schools and was a graduate of Dirigo High School Class of 1955. He was also a graduate of Bentley College in Boston, with a major in accounting.
He was an accountant for 35 years with the Rumford Paper Mill.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, member and past secretary of the Rumford Lodge of Elks No. 862, and a member of the Dixfield Alumni Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker. He loved spending time with his family at his cottage in Harpswell, where he would lobster and dig clams.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa M. (Cormier) Therriault of Mexico; a daughter, Brenda T. Johnston and husband, Scott, of Richmond, Va.; twin sons, Dennis L. Therriault and wife, Maria, of Cumberland, and David F. Therriault, and wife, Tammy of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Linda Dunlay and husband, Thomas, of Dixfield; two brothers, Richard Therriault and wife, Ann, of Norridgewock, and Thomas Therriault and wife, Bonnie, of Dixfield; and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Kyle, Kelsey, and Matthew.
He was predeceased by his parents.
