GILFORD, N.H. (AP) – Police investigating a suspected burglary ended up at the scene of a serious accident.

It started Sunday night when a man called police to report someone trying to break into his house. The man said he confronted the suspect, who ran off down the street and soon after was hit by a car.

Police say they don’t believe the crash victim was trying to break into the house. They haven’t released the man’s name but said he suffered serious head injuries.
