Dear Sun Spots: Here is the latest news on the 25th reunion for the ELHS Class of 1982 for any former students or interested readers:
As of the time of this writing, there had been little interest in planning the reunion. We are now in full gear with a group of three wanting many more hands to help out with the planning. We were blessed in being able to secure Lost Valley for Aug. 25.
Invitations are being mailed at the end of June. If anyone is interested in assisting with the planning of this event, or would like to ensure their name and contact information is available, please contact Deborah Marshall via e-mail at [email protected] or via phone at 933-4080. I may also be reached via mail at 66 Welch Ave., Monmouth, ME 04259. – Deborah Marshall, Monmouth.
Dear Sun Spots: I am trying to locate short-legged English Jack Russell puppies in your publication area. I may be reached via phone at 864-5558 or e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you so much. – Judy Quimby, No Town.
Answer: Thanks to a tip from a co-worker, Sun Spots checked in with the Annabessacook Veterinary Clinic, 417 Route 135, Monmouth, 933-6424, who currently have a flier on their notice board. You should contact Kim and Arthur Grant in Leeds at 524-5642. Sun Spots spoke with Arthur, who says they’ve got a few left and either he or his wife would be happy to chat with you.

Dear Sun Spots: Do you know of any French tutors in the area that give private lessons? Thanks in advance. – Dee Dee Giguere, Sabattus.

The Language Exchange, Immersion Programs, 80 Exchange St., Suite 24-26, Portland, ME 04101, 772-0405, 1-888-772-0405.
The reader recently seeking a Spanish language tutor might also contact the Immersion Programs for details on that.

Dear Sun Spots: In the past, different organizations or schools have collected old sneakers as a fundraiser. The shoes would be ground up to make athletic surfaces. Are there any collections of this going on? – Sharron Raczynski, No Town.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots is not aware of any in Maine. However, she did locate a program begun by Nike and that might assist you – the Nike Reuse a Shoe program online at www.nike.com.
If you click on the Interactive Map, you will be provided with addresses of several states that do collect old sneakers. Sun Spots notes there is one located at George & Phillips, 173 Water Street, Exeter, NH 03833, via phone at 603-772-3156. If this is too far for you to travel, you may send any number of shoes to the Nike Recycling Center, C/O Reuse-A-Shoe, 26755 SW 95th Ave., Wilsonville, OR 97070. Please note that Nike will not accept shoes delivered with postage due.
