The museum has a collection of artifacts from earlier years in Rumford’s history, specializing in items that were once commonly used in every home, rural or urban. Because it was once a school, it has one small corner devoted to students of an earlier era, including a blackboard that was made of slate, an innovation that was discovered in an early Rumford school. There is even a two story outhouse, one for each gender.
The museum is open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For tours at other hours, contact Bill Weston at 364-8660.
