Kian Merchant-Borna, a resident of Mt. Vernon, received a bachelor of arts cum laude in biology and environmental studies from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Alfred University during commencement exercises May 12.

He graduated with university and departmental honors as well as membership in Pi Sigma Mu, International Society in Social Sciences. He has been admitted to Boston University School of Medicine, the Master of Arts in Medical Sciences program, for this coming fall term. Merchant-Borna is the son of Christine Merchant and the late Shapour Borna Pajuhesh of Farmington. He is a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel.
