NORWAY – A local man will be summoned to court on charges of disorderly conduct and assault following a confrontation between himself and an unidentified woman at the Cumberland Farms parking lot on Main Street Monday night.
Police from Oxford and Norway responded to the scene, and filed the charges against Stephen Damon of 127 High St., Paris, after a caller reported a fight at 10:17 p.m.
Police said the woman was bruised but did not need medical attention. Reports began to circulate quickly that a stabbing had taken place, but police Chief Robert Federico said the reports were unfounded. A witness at the scene reported to police that he thought he had seen a weapon.
In an unrelated incident, Norway police also responded to a report about a girl screaming on the railroad tracks shortly after 9:30 Tuesday night. According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s office, Leanna Kramer, 19, of 16 Gary St., Norway, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said the woman was “very intoxicated,” but did not need medical assistance.
