JAY – The School Committee accepted the resignation of member Joel Pike Monday night during a special meeting, Superintendent Robert Wall said Tuesday.

Four candidates ran for two seats on the School Committee with Dan DiPompo, 352 votes, and Nancy Chaney, 297 votes, declared winners in the contest after they received the most votes.

Incumbent committee Chairman Clint Brooks received 292 votes in the contest and Marga Hutchinson received 225 votes.

School Committee members will meet at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the middle school in a budget workshop to review the failed warrant articles, including a $9.96 million education spending article.

The board set Wednesday, June 27, for a meeting to approve the warrant that goes before voters in August.

Committee members approved appointments for summer school but tabled co-curricular appointments slated for the middle school because of a lack of budget, Wall said.
