RANGELEY – Two art teachers at Rangeley Lakes Regional School will offer art and craft workshops for adults June 25-29 at the school.

Susan Ruprecht and Sonja Johnson will offer three workshops each.

Johnson’s workshops, Monday through Friday are:

Gelatin monoprinting, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Students will be introduced to the process of using natural objects and stencils to pull prints from a gelatin printing plates. Students will also be shown how to transfer images from magazine and printed material to their printing plate to add typography and photographs to their prints.

Altered Books, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will be given a variety of discarded books and found materials to create personal journals. Techniques for folding, cutting, reformulating, painting, stamping and collaging will be shown to aid in the construction of the journals.

Clay, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Hand building and wheel throwing techniques will be demonstrated and students will be given the opportunity to create a series of utilitarian vessels with a common theme or pattern.

Ruprecht’s workshops, Monday through Friday are:

Soap making, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Students will be introduced to a variety of techniques from bar, sheet and molded soap making. Packaging and presentation of the soap will also be a part of the course offering.

Candle making, noon to 3 p.m. Students will work with the gel candle making techniques. They will produce a meditation candle, an underwater seascape floating wick candle and a granular candlescape.

Arts and crafts, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Students will create a photograph stepping stone, small copper foil stained glass jewelry (earring, pendant, pin or small sun catcher).

The courses will be taught at Rangeley Lakes Regional School. The enrollment fee is $100 and there will be a $50 studio fee to cover the cost of all materials.

The minimum enrollment is five and the maximum enrollment is 10. Organizers will be offering a second session from August 6 to 10 if there is enough interest.
