Clothes giveaway planned by group

LIVERMORE FALLS – Mizpah Circle, International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons, will hold a clothing giveaway at its room in the basement of Treat Memorial Library from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 23.

Donations of clean, used clothing will be accepted from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, in the library basement.

Guest preacher

LIVERMORE – Charles L. Boothby, president of the Northeast District of the Unitarian-Universalist Association, will be the guest preacher at the Washburn-Norlands Church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 24.

Boothby will portray Brother Otis Holmes Johnson, an itinerant Universalist minister who preached in the historic church many times in the mid-19th century.

The service is part of the two-day Heritage Days Festival being held on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The church service is free and open the public. Admission to the other events is $2 for children, $4 for adults and $12 for families. Call 897-4366 for more information.

Hospital photos

FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital is accepting photographs for its next exhibit, “Laughter,” which will be on display in July and August.

Anyone living in Franklin Memorial’s service area is eligible to submit two photographs. Entries may be color or black-and-white prints, and should be the following sizes: 4- by 6-inch, 5- by 7-inch, or 8- by 10-inch. The entry deadline is July 1.

Each photograph must have a completed entry form attached. The form is available on the hospital Web site at www.fchn.org/docs/community/photoexhibit/photoentryform.pdf. It is also available at the hospital’s front desk or by mail.

Jay student

JAY – Jay High School student Kaitlyn M. Webster, daughter of Mark and Jill Webster, was named the 2007 recipient of the Saint Michael’s College Scholarship and Service Book Award.

The award recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism and leadership through community service. Saint Michael’s, located in the Burlington area of Vermont, was founded on the belief that serving others is part of the Catholic tradition. The award seeks to honor those who demonstrate the true spirit of volunteerism.

Award recipients, named at schools throughout the country, are high school juniors who are inductees of the National Honor Society or an equivalent school-sponsored honors organization. They must demonstrate a commitment to service activities in high school or community organizations, taking leadership roles in these activities.
