FARMINGTON – Marion L. Whitney, 91, of Farmington, died Tuesday, June 19, at the Sandy River Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Mercer, a daughter of Stephen and Katie (Otis) Ladd and received her education in Mercer schools. On Oct. 13, 1934, she married Robert G. Whitney in Norridgewock. He died Jan. 11, 1992.
She was a homemaker and also worked at the “old” Franklin Memorial Hospital and also worked at the new hospital as well. She loved to crochet and knit for her family. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by four sons, Glendon O. Whitney, and his wife, Regina (Robbins) Whitney, of Farmington, Kenneth R. Whitney, and his wife, Janice S., of New Portland, Harold L. Whitney, and his wife, Gloria (Wyman) Whitney, of Livermore Falls and Alan D. Whitney of Farmington; two sisters, Clarabelle Austin of Florida and Irene Dodge of Madrid; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband; sisters, Isabel Wing, Lydia Drummond, Bertha Perkins and Adeline Modig; brothers, Edwin Ladd, Walter Ladd, Frank Ladd and Elmer Ladd; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Whitney.
