WATERFORD – An unidentified man working on a house a 422 Mill Hill Road was taken to the hospital early Thursday morning after he apparently fell from a ladder into the cellar of the home.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call about the accident at 8:18 a.m., and LifeFlight helicopter and United Ambulance from Bridgton were dispatched to the scene along with Stoneham Rescue.

Details were somewhat sketchy, but an employee United Ambulance said the man was taken by Stoneham Rescue to the Waterford Town Hall then flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with what he described as nonlife-threatening injuries. The man was conscious and being treated for what appeared to be a fractured back, the employee said.

The house that was under construction is owned by Lee Bradley of 420 Mill Hill Road. A woman who identified herself as Bradley’s wife said the man was her future son-in-law but would give no further information.
