AUGUSTA – Kelsey Griffin truly made her season complete Thursday night.

The Scarborough pitcher won the Miss Maine Softball Award at the Maine Senior All-Star games at Cony High School. The award is presented to the state’s top softball player.

Griffin had already been named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year and captured the Class A state title last Saturday with a 17-strike out, two-hit shutout of Skowhegan.

“I couldn’t imagine finishing any better,” said Griffin. “It was a perfect ending. We did so well. It’s really nice.”

The Red Storm hurler will attend Iona College in New Rochelle, New York next year. Griffin finished the regular season with a 0.00 ERA and struck out 129 batters while walking just seven in 68 innings. All 15 hits she allowed were singles. She also batted .412 for the Red Storm. She pitched three two-hitters and two shutouts in the postseason.

Griffin was also named the Western A Player of the Year.

Other regional honorees included Jordan McLain of Brewer in Eastern A; Fryeburg’s Danni Hill in Western B; Bucksport’s Terren Hall in Eastern B; Madison’s Ashley Marandola in Western C; Calais’ Stephanie Perry in Eastern C; Richmond’s Hillary Trott in Western D and Megan Korhonen from Greater Houlton in Eastern D.
