FARMINGTON – The July 4 parade in Farmington is only a few weeks away and anyone wishing to participate in the Farmington Rotary Club’s annual event is encouraged to start thinking about a float design. This year’s theme is “Great American Movies.”

There will be eight categories this year with cash prizes of $50, $25 and $15 for the top three winners. The categories are military, agriculture, individuals, families, groups, business, antique cars, and antique tractors. The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. behind the Mallett School on Middle Street with lineup starting at 8 a.m. Judging will be finished by 9:30 a.m.

Once again, The Pierce House on Main Street will be offering a post-parade free concert on the lawn featuring the Centennial Brass Band. Free lemonade and cookies will be served, members of the Old South Congregational Church will sell strawberry shortcake, and hot dogs will be sold next door at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church.

For information, call Rotarians Carolyn Eaton at 778-2584 before June 27, or Dyan Macomber at 778-0302, or by e-mail to [email protected].
