BATH – Jamie Reilly’s two-out, two-run single to left in the bottom of the seventh gave Smith-Tobey a come-from-behind 11-10 victory over Gray Post 86 and salvaged a split in a doubleheader Saturday.
Gray won the opener 4-2.
Smith-Tobey (1-4) trailed 9-0 entering the bottom of the fifth inning of the nightcap. Reilly highlighted the five-run fifth with a two-run triple with Ryan Billings adding a two-run single off starter Ryan Welch.
Welch and reliever Lucas Chase combined to walk the first six batters in the bottom of the seventh. Following a pair of strikeouts sandwiched around another free pass, Reilly drove his game-winning hit to left. Jarrod Erdmann (1-0) picked up the win in relief.
Welch’s two-run homer was the key hit in Gray’s eight-run fifth inning along with Josh Sundquist’s double that also drove in a pair of runs.
Gray took advantage of three first-inning walks in the opener to score all four of its runs. Nate Johnson had an RBI single and Nick Devine delivered another run with a sacrifice fly.
Joe Billings went the first six innings to garner the win with Matt Moberg picking up the save. Danny Plummer (0-2) suffered the loss for Smith-Tobey.
