LEWISTON – The wedding of Amber Marie Pena, MD, and Rick Maurice Lacasse was held at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Bates College Chapel in Lewiston. Gerald LaPlante officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Lacasse is the daughter of Mercedes Perez of Houston, Texas, and Angel Pena of San Cristobal, Cuba. Mr. Lacasse is the son of Normand and Therese Lacasse of Lewiston.
The bride, given in marriage by her mother, wore a pale ivory strapless silk ball gown with a chapel length train. Her hair was adorned with a Swarovski crystal and pearl tiara and a shoulder length veil. She carried a bouquet of light pink roses, wax flower, stephanotis and eucalyptus.
Joline Betsch, best friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Erica Lacasse, stepdaughter of the bride, and Megan Olden, friend of the bride.
Darren Chiounard, friend of the bridegroom, attended as best man. Derrick Lacasse, son of the bridegroom, and James Betsch, friend of the bridegroom, attended as groomsmen.
A reception followed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. At the reception, the bride changed into a backless, white, floor-length beaded gown for the festivities. Plaid Daddy of Boston entertained the guests. The couple honeymooned in St. John, U.S.Virgin Islands.
The bride is a 1990 graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas, and a 1994 graduate of the University of St. Thomas in Houston, summa cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree in biology and philosophy. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston and completed her residency training in internal medicine in Albuquerque, N.M. She now practices medicine in Lewiston.
The bridegroom is a 1981 graduate of Lewiston High School. He is employed in the physical plant at Bates College as the assistant grounds supervisor.
