BETHEL – Charles G. Blake of Bethel, died in his home, June 19, following a long illness.
He was born Jan., 1, 1933, at the Blake farm, to Roy C. and Dorothy (Glines) Blake. He graduated from Gould Academy in 1951. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1954, and was a radar instructor stationed in Washington state. He then served in Japan for two years. He returned to Bethel in 1958, after receiving his service discharge. On June 30, 1960, he married Patricia Thornton, of Rumford. They took over the operation of Blake dairy farm. He retired from farming in 1986, at which time the farm was taken over by their son, Brian. For the next 15 years, Charlie worked as a long-haul truck driver for Currier trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; his children, Brian and his wife, Christine, and their daughters, Courtney and Mallory; son, Harlan, Penny and Mackenzie Blake; Amy Wheeler, her husband Todd, and son Tanner, all of Bethel. He also leaves his very special sister, Emma Page of Bethel; two special sisters-in-law, Sharon Samela of Connecticut, and Margo Davis of Bethel; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Harlan.
