PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – Four female members of the police department are speaking out against the punishment given a lieutenant who grabbed a female officer’s breast.

The women, three detectives and an administrative assistant, are criticizing the punishment given Lt. Rodney McQuate after it was learned he grabbed a fellow officer’s breast while attending a Washington, D.C. conference last month. The women say McQuate’s behavior was disrespectful and are asking he have no supervisory contact with them.

They’re also critical of McQuate’s punishment, saying it was too light.

According to earlier reports, McQuate was suspended for three days, though Chief Michael Magnant says that is incorrect. He told the Portsmouth Herald McQuate was first suspended with pay, then without, but declined to give more specifics.
