SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Paul Denis, a native of Lewiston, has been named 2007 Federal Employee of the Year by the Federal Executive Association of Central New York. The award was for distinguished government service to veterans and their families.

Denis received his honor in June.

He has been the Contact Representative for the Syracuse VA Medical Center for the past eight years. He is responsible for the military/VA sharing agreements, known as TriCare and CHAMPVA ensuring that military members and their family members receive earned healthcare and other benefit support. Denis also serves as the Administrative Point of Contact for the Seamless Transition Team, a program established specifically for the combat veterans who are returning from Afghanistan/Iraq. In this role, he ensures that these men and women receive the healthcare services, resulting from injuries incurred while in combat.

He is a retired Navy Hospital Corpsman (FMF). He and his wife, the former Suzanne Hinkley (of Turner) reside in central New York. They have three children and six grandchildren.
