LEWISTON – Anita G. Orino, 79, died Sunday, June 24, at Central Maine Medical Center. She was resident of Waldo Street in Rumford.
She was born Mary Anita Gallant in Mexico, on Oct. 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Thomas Dominic and Mary Alvina (Perry) Gallant. She was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford. She worked with her husband, Harold, and together they owned and operated the Corner Pharmacy in Rumford for many years, and she later worked at Bartash Drug Store, where she retired.
She was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church, and was also a member of the Greater Rumford Senior Citizen’s Club.
She was married in Rumford, on April 22, 1951 to Harold W. Orino who died in Rumford, on March 15, 2005.
Survivors include nephews, Michael Gallant, and wife, Molly, of Hallowell, William Orino, and wife, Jane, of Chester, Va.; nieces, Alicia Pelletier of Colonial Heights, Va., Terri Palmer, and husband, Matthew, of Rumford, Barbara Orino, and fiancé, Steve Carter, of Dixfield, Tisha Gay of Sidney and Tammy Kennedy of Augusta; great-nephews, Brian Gallant, and wife, Analisa, of Gardiner and Joshua Ronan of Dixfield; great-nieces, Kristy Palmer of Carrabassett Valley, Lyndee Palmer of South Portland, Jennifer Flynn of Rumford, Jessica Flynn of Dixfield and Rebecca Binkerd of Utah; several great-great-nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Avis Orino of Mexico and Judy Gallant of Vassalboro.
She was predeceased by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Adolphus “Duke” and Alice Orino; brothers, Edward and Thomas Gallant; sister-in-law, Rose Gallant; brother-in-law, Arthur Orino; niece, Angela Gallant; and nephew, Philip Orino.
