AUBURN – Simonne A. Champagne, 86, formerly of the Sarah Frye Home, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, at The Hospice House after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston June 20, 1921, a daughter of Albert and Emilia (Boucher) Lemay. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

In 1942, she married Armand L. Champagne, who passed away in 1996. She first worked for a number of years at W.S. Libbey Mill, then spent some time at Raytheon’s Lewiston facility prior to working 14 years at General Electric until her retirement in 1982.

She was a longtime parishioner at Holy Cross Church. Among her favorite enjoyments over the years were spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends, reading, listening to music and traveling with her husband on day or weekend trips, most often to the beach and the ocean, as the coast was one of her favorite places.

She leaves her son, Lucien Champagne, and wife, Marilyn, of Kennebunkport; two grandsons, Alexander and Noah; two sisters, Carmen Godin of Lewiston and Muriel Bowie of Salisbury, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Grace Lemay; and two brothers, Leo and Rosario Lemay.
