AUBURN – Virgil Wayne Travers, 77, a resident of Main Street, Greene, died early Tuesday, June 26, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin.
He was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Wentworth, N.H., the son of Charles and Sybil Mary (Bennett) Travers. He attended the Litchfield and Lewiston school systems.
On July 31, 1993 in Winthrop, he married Sandra L. Frost. He had worked in the construction field as a welder and retired in 1977. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Travers of Greene; two daughters, Cathy Thompson, and her husband, Mark, of Knox and Peggy Mazrat, and her husband, Richard, of Crest View, Fla.; one son, Wayne Travers of Auburn; two stepdaughters, Michele Provencher, and her husband, Shawn, of Lewiston and Cathy Mosher of Roanoke, Va.; two stepsons, Lewis William Mosher Jr., and his wife, Virginia, of Lewiston and Richard Perry Mosher, and his wife, Geri, of Sebastian, Fla.; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Archie Travers, and his wife, Hazel, of Auburn, Vernon Hoyt, and his wife, Ada, of Mechanic Falls, Gary Mulherin of Litchfield and Roger Mulherin, and his wife, April, of Chesterville; three sisters, Sonia Smiley, and her husband, George, of Greene, Judith St. Laurent, and her husband, Gerry, of Lewiston and Melanie Mulherin of Fayette; and the mother of his children, Beverly Travers of Knox.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Carroll Travers, Marvin Travers and Frederick Heath.
