LIVERMORE – A Livermore Falls couple were seriously injured Wednesday when the car they were riding in collided head-on with a pickup truck on Route 4.

Deborah Harriman, 48, and her husband Steve, 50, were taken to a Lewiston hospital with injuries after the crash at Routes 4 and 108.

Steve Harriman, who was knocked unconscious in the 4 p.m. crash, was being treated for a head injury and two broken ankles, according to a family member. A nursing supervisor at Central Maine Medical Center said Harriman was listed in critical condition late Wednesday night.

Deborah Harriman, who was driving the Dodge Stratus that crashed, was hospitalized with a broken arm, broken toes, broken fingers and cuts. She was treated at the hospital and was expected to be discharged late Wednesday or early today, according to the nursing supervisor.

Witnesses said Deborah Harriman was driving south on Route 4 when a pickup truck driven by Ryan Robbins of Dixfield turned in front of them. Robbins had been driving north and was turning left onto Route 108 when the vehicles collided head-on, according to witnesses.

Robbins struck his head on the windshield but was able to step out of his Ford truck on his own. He was not seriously hurt.

Deborah Harriman was pinned behind the wheel of her Dodge while her husband slumped in the passenger’s seat, unconscious.

Rescuers used hydraulic equipment to rip the top from the car to free the Harrimans.

Maine State Police took measurements and photos of the scene as an investigation began. Investigating Trooper Nate Jamo could not be reached Wednesday night for further information about the wreck.
