LEWISTON – Laurianne Y. Fournier, 96, formerly of Meadowview Apartments, Lewiston, and for the last several years of Marshwood Health Care Center, died at the nursing home on Tuesday, June 26, after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on May 30, 1911, the daughter of Eugene and Claudia Poisson Verville. She was educated in Lewiston schools and lived in Lewiston all of her life.

She was a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Before her retirement, she worked as a stitcher at Lewiston Bleachery and later as a certified nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s General Hospital.

She was married to Charles E. Fournier on Jan. 11, 1936. He died in 1964. She served as an officer of the Rainbow Club Auxiliary of the YWCA. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, traveling and spending time in Old Orchard Beach with her sister-in-law, Irene Fournier and her sister, Rita Verville.

She is survived by one son, Paul C. Fournier, and his wife, Pauline, of Lewiston; one brother, Roger Verville of Harwich, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers and sisters, Regina Bilodeau, Maurice Verville, Alfred Verville, Armand Verville, Raoul Verville, Henri Verville, Wilfrid Verville, Antonio Verville, Roland Verville Sr., Gratienne Verville, O.P., Muriel Verville and Rita Verville.
