PORTLAND – Thelma Mildred Chamberlain, 71, of Falmouth, died Monday, June 25, with her family and friends by her side.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1935, in Durham, the daughter of Millie (Sawyer) and George Stone. After graduating from North Yarmouth Academy, she went to nursing school, and left nursing to start her family. She began a 45-plus-year career in real estate.

She belonged to many clubs and organizations, most notably the Falmouth Lions Club, Eastern Star – Winnegance Chapter, Maine Real Estate Association, just to name a few. Her success and respect as a real estate woman was due in large part not only for her helpfulness, but also for her love for her customers, who would become part of her “family.” She had a passion for real estate and the people she met along the way because of it.

She will be remembered for a great sense of humor, her love of fun and travel. She was known to have a sympathetic ear and offer good advice. In later years, she enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading and her granddaughters were the love of her life.

She is survived by her children, Sharon L. Chamberlain-Blau of Falmouth, Charles E. Chamberlain III of Falmouth, Cynthia A. Chamberlain, and her companion, Joe O’Donnell, of Cousins Island and Chris P. Chamberlain of Portland; her granddaughters, Melissa Hope Blau of Providence, R.I., and Sarah V. Tibbetts of Cousins Island; her brother, George L. Stone Jr. of Brattleboro, Vt.; a niece who was as close as a daughter, Diane Gaines of North Yarmouth; and many nieces and nephews whom she truly loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Julie Lynn; and her brother, Milton Stone.
