MONMOUTH – Tavis Hasenfus and Wally Rines combined for five hits and RBIs as unbeaten Monmouth crushed Rockland 13-1 in an American Legion game Monday.

Leading 5-1 entering the fourth inning, Monmouth engineered an eight-run outburst on the strength of six hits and seven walks. Rines led the way with a two-run double while Chris Ellis knocked in two with a single.

Mike Eaton pitched five solid innings for Monmouth (17-0). He did not allow a walk and gave up just one hit after the first inning.

Josh Elwell knocked in the lone run for Rockland (7-9).

Gilman Electric 9, Brunswick-Topsham 0

BRUNSWICK – Tyler Merchant smashed a two-run double in the first inning as Gilman Electric ran away with a 9-0 win over Brunswick Topsham.

Merchant and Brent Cary each tallied a pair of hits and drove in two runs for Gilman Electric (12-5). Will Griffiths was solid on the hill, scattering five hits and fanning six in four innings to secure the win.

Matt Liscouitz led Brunswick-Topsham (1-14) with two singles.
