Block Kids Program at Dozer Dayz July 21

OXFORD – The National Association of Women in Construction will bring the Block Kids Program Competition to Dozer Dayz from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Oxford County Fair Grounds, Route 26.

Dozer Dayz is being presented by the Boxberry School and the Associated Constructors of Maine Inc. to benefit the school, an independent elementary school in Oxford.

Block Kids is an award-winning program competition that introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of and to promote an interest in future careers in one of the many facets of the construction industry.

It is designed for children in grades one through six, and the competition involves the construction of various structures with interlocking blocks.

The morning competition will begin at 10:30, and the afternoon competition will begin at 1. Competitions usually take about an hour to an hour and a half.

Look for the Block Kids exhibit at Dozer Dayz along with demonstrations such as hole digging, earth moving, and/or crane lifting. Equipment such as excavators, cement trucks, plows and bulldozers will be on display for children of all ages to explore.

Dozer Dayz tickets are $7 a person the day of the event. Advance tickets (nonrefundable) can be purchased at Books-n-Things on Main Street in Norway for $5. Rain date is Sunday, July 22.
