AUGUSTA – Cecile L. Nichols Rowe, 77, of Farmingdale, passed away at MaineGeneral Medical Center Tuesday, July 17, with her family by her side.

She was born in Augusta, Sept. 12, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Yvonne (Guimond) Quirion. She grew up in Augusta and attended Augusta schools. She married her first husband, Norman Nichols and together they raised five children in Hallowell. She worked for a short time at Hallowell Shoe and later Benner’s Store in Hallowell.

She is survived by her children, Norman N. Nichols, and his wife, Karen, of West Gardiner, Carol J. Nichols of Jay, Edward P. Nichols, and his wife, Carol, of Hallowell and Mark S. Nichols of Farmingdale; her grandchildren, Justin Nichols, and his wife, Bonnie, Seth Nichols and his wife, Heather, Michael Nichols, and his wife, Holly, Nicole Soiett, and her husband, Jason and Erin Soule, and her husband, Neal; her great-grandchildren, Alicia, Nolan, Molly and Kylee Nichols and Mekenzie Coiett; her stepchildren, Skip Rowe, and his wife, Janelle, of Farmingdale, Pam Fortin, and her husband, Larry, of Manchester, Jeff Rowe, and his wife, Rossi, of Farmingdale, Kathy Beaulieu, and her husband, Leon, of Chelsea, Gail Smith, and her husband, Chuck, of Hallowell and Suzanne Heath, and her husband, Matt, of Farmingdale; along with several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Norman E. Nichols; her daughter, Norma N. Nichols; her second husband, Edward O. Rowe Sr.; and her sisters, Rose Castonguay, Florida Pelletier, Rita Gammon, Claudia Arnold and Yvette Marshall.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Peter Guzzetti and the many RNs, CNAs and the respiratory staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta for the great care given to her.
