DIXFIELD – The Dixfield-Dirigo Alumni Association held its annual alumni banquet on June 16 at the T.W. Kelly Middle School.

The potluck supper was attended by 104 members and guests. The association honored the classes of 1947, 1957 and 1967.

A member from each of the classes gave a short speech about their class, their high school days, their dreams and expectations for the future.

Speakers were Dan Welch ’47, Reggie Wing ’57 and Pam Spaulding Newton ’67.

Members who traveled from out-of-state were Gary Miller ’55 and his wife from Florida; Erlon Gill ’48 from New Hampshire; Ron and Gayle Gagnon Davis ’67 from Massachusetts; Dan Welch ’47 and his wife from Pennsylvania; Pam Newell Rivers ’67 from Vermont; Larry Robbins ’67 and his wife from Tennessee; and Linda McAuley Powell from Oklahoma.

Also attending was Mrs. Nat Weston, a former teacher, who, at the age of 90-plus, drove herself from Pemaquid Beach. Gayle Davis was introduced as new treasurer.

Scholarships were awarded to Katie Hutchinson, who plans to attend the Maine Maritime Academy, Brad McLeod, attending University of Maine in Orono and Katy White attending University of Maine at Farmington.

Oldest class representation was 1935 (72 years) with Hazel Savage Kennedy and her guests; and Thirza Holman Towle.

The youngest class was represented by Avis McAuley Pulkkinen, class of 1970.

Peggy Robbins Tardiff won the 50/50. A special thank-you was given to Sonia and Jessica Blaisdell for their assistance preparing supper in the kitchen.

Entertainment was provided by vocalist Sammi Angel.
