LEWISTON – A funeral Mass honoring the life of Leona B. Massey was celebrated Friday at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul after prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Lariviere celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery. At the beginning of Mass the pall was placed on Mrs. Massey’s casket by Joan and Edwin Young. The readings were done by Nadine Massey and Karen Young. The offertory was brought to the altar by Sharon Mahar and Sandra Dube. At the conclusion of the committal prayers, a poem written by Michelle Foerster, was read by Kathleen Cowen in tribute to her grandmother. Also the song “I can only Imagine” sung by great-granddaughter Kathleen Foerster was played in tribute to her great-grandmother. The pallbearers were Michael Mongeau, John Cowen, Kevin, Scott, Robert, Troy and Greg Massey, and Coyne Turcotte and Brian Young. A reception of fellowship was held at the Ramada Inn after the committal services at the cemetery. Arrangements by the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home.
