LEWISTON – Festival FrancoFun will bring a weekend of music, food and Franco-American culture to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee starting Friday.
Opening ceremonies will include Bonhomme Carnaval, Quebec’s Winter Carnaval ambassador; anthem singers; and young student singers from l’Ecole Francaise du Maine. Performing on the main stage from 1 to 4:30 p.m. will be The Silvertones, Present Company and The Trio. Admission to this afternoon performance is free.
Later, Louis Philippe will bring friends and family together for an old-fashioned soiree. The Moon Dawgs will perform at 9 p.m.
Saturday, these performers will take the stage:
12:30 p.m.: Maine Fiddlers
2:15 p.m.: Leblanc family
3:45 p.m.: Melanie Saucier
6:15 p.m.: C’est Ci Bon Band
8:30 p.m.: Jean Guy Piche
A bean supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets, $6, are on sale at the Colisee and at Shaw’s supermarkets in Lewiston and Auburn; or call 689-2000. The supper will include beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, pickled beets, bologna, rolls and butter, dessert and beverage.
Sunday will begin with a 9 a.m.Catholic Mass, with these afternoon performances:
1 p.m.: Vintage
2:45p.m.: Mary Murphy
4 p.m.: C’est Ci Bon Band
The Shipyard Lounge above the main concession area will serve as the cultural wing of the festival, where film and other cultural materials will be presented.
Festival meals will be served all day.
Admission to FrancoFun entertainment (other than Friday afternoon performances) is $10 per day or $25 for a three-day pass.
