In response to the letter by Josh Gagne (July 30), I believe the overwhelming majority of U.S. citizens do not support granting citizenship for the untold millions of illegal aliens now living in this country. Gagne is in the minority, but, as usual, people in the minority are usually most vociferous and claim to speak for the majority on liberal issues.

Does Gagne know the meaning of illegal?

What I do believe is that most American citizens believe in legal immigration, and are happy to see people come from poor countries, work hard and gain a piece of the American pie.

What this country does not need or want are millions of illegal aliens flooding in annually, immediately joining the welfare rolls while receiving free education for their children, along with free medical care and free housing at the expense of the working class. There is also a high percentage of illegal aliens who work for cash and don’t pay taxes.

I believe most Americans support, as I do, immigration – legal immigration.
