LEWISTON – David E. Morse, former Maine newspaper executive and trustee emeritus of Maine Public Broadcasting Network, was recently appointed to the newly created position of vice president, marketing, communications and government affairs.
Morse is a graduate of Principia College. He began his career at The Los Angeles Times, and in 1977 he joined The Christian Science Monitor in Boston, where he became assistant publisher and also became president of WQTV-TV68 and syndicated radio programs through American Public Radio.
After consulting for the Cousteau Society, Morse came to Maine in 1991 as publisher and CEO of Courier Publications. During his tenure at the weekly newspaper group, he published papers from Bar Harbor to Boston. He then joined Blethen Newspapers as president of Maine Community Publications in 2003, which he left to care for his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2005.
Morse has two children and lives in Newcastle.
