EPSOM, N.H. – Irene P. Brown, 89, of Epsom. N.H., died Aug. 1 on her birthday at Epsom Manor.

She was born in Auburn on Aug. 1, 1918, a daughter to the late Emile and Florida (Bisson) Freve. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1937.

After graduating, she married the love of her life Lyman J. Brown. He predeceased her in 1987. She worked for many years at Bates Mill as a stitcher and later she worked for Raytheon. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and later St. Philips until she moved to New Hampshire.

She was also a member of a club known as the Ala-Bel-Coh Club, an organization she and her friends started in high school and they stayed together many years after school. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her children and grandchildren, gardening and playing with her grandchildren.

She leaves two sons, Howard W. Brown of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Gary R. Brown, and his wife, Mary, of Concord, N.H.; five grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Lisa and John Brown and Jessica Clippinger; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Simone Freve of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers, William, Paul, Marcel and Gerard Freve; and a sister, Rita Freve. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her remaining family and friends.
