The Blue Jays extended their home winning streak to seven games, and have outscored opponents 50-14 over that span.

Texas has lost six of eight following a season-high four-game winning streak.

Kelvim Escobar (11-6) lost his third straight start despite allowing one earned run and two hits over seven innings. He matched his career high with seven walks and struck out two.

With the score tied at 1 in the seventh, Escobar walked Mark Ellis and Marco Scutaro around Mark Kotsay’s fly out. Donnie Murphy lined out to Chone Figgins at third base before Buck came on and lunged for a pitch, hitting it to right where it fell just in front of Reggie Willits.

Twins 3, Indians 2

MINNEAPOLIS – Joe Nathan finished off five scoreless innings by the Minnesota bullpen and Michael Cuddyer drove in two runs.

Cuddyer also made a leaping catch in right field to help Minnesota beat Cleveland for only the third time in 10 matchups this season. The Twins moved within 51/2 games of the Indians, who began the day in first place in the AL Central.

Minnesota starter Matt Garza labored through four innings, but Ramon Ortiz (4-4), Dennys Reyes and Matt Guerrier picked him up. Nathan notched his 25th save in 27 tries by pitching a perfect ninth.

Cleveland starter Aaron Laffey (0-1) made his major league debut, but he didn’t quite get enough hitting help. Laffey allowed six hits, three runs, and one walk while striking out three.

The loss kept them a half game behind AL Central leader Cleveland.

Bonderman got two outs in the first before the White Sox broke through with three straight RBI hits. Pierzynski started with a run-scoring single to right. Dye followed with a two-run double, drawing the ire of the home crowd. Bonderman heard a smattering of boos as Dye made his way to second.
