Wiring fix approved

The scoop: Electrical wiring problems at the transfer station have wreaked havoc with equipment motors, specifically the station’s new air compressor. With verbal approval from four selectmen, emergency repairs were made and Town Manager Gregory Gill officially presented expense of the item to entire board for approval. The board passed the repair but stipulated that the expense be limited to $1,900, which will come from the public works building account.

LaPlante joins board Issue: Selectmen have worried that the town, like several others in Androscoggin County, regularly has been without representation when the county’s budget is drafted. Up next: Normand LaPlante volunteered to serve at the county level and board members Tuesday made the appointment official. The Androscoggin County Budget Commission is scheduled to meet Aug. 14. Fournier EMA director The scoop: Donat Fournier Jr. was unanimously appointed director of the town’s Emergency Management Agency on Tuesday, replacing former director Andre Marquis, whom the board removed two weeks ago.
