DURHAM – Three candidates are running for two vacancies on the Board of Selectmen in a special election Tuesday.
The openings are the result of two resignations – that of Michael VanDerWerf and Christine Charette.
Catherine Curtis of Brianna Drive and Denise Lacasse-LaFlamme of Royalsborough Road, are vying for Charette’s unexpired term, which runs through April 2008.
Daniel Hume of Hallowell Road, who unsuccessfully ran for selectman this past April, is running unopposed for VanDerWerf’s term, which runs through April 2009.
Voters will assemble at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Durham Fire Station on Hallowell Road to elect a moderator, after which the polls will be opened from 3 to 7 p.m. to vote by secret ballot.
For additional information or questions, call Town Clerk Shannon Plourde at 353-2561, ext. 2.
