LEWISTON – Irene C. Guidotte, 71, died on Monday, Aug. 6, after a long battle with respiratory disease.

She was born in Lewiston, on Jan. 6, 1936, the daughter of Eddie and Ida Cote Levesque.

From her first job at Luiggi’s Pizza to the Poland Spring Inn to managing her own company, Poland Spring Realty, she approached life with enthusiasm, tenacity and creativity. Her No. 1 priority was providing her three children with a nurturing home and tending to their cuts and scrapes.

As a mother, wife, and friend, she was an ever-present source of courage and inspiration.

She accompanied her career Air Force husband on a whirlwind tour of the world living in the Azores Islands, Europe and seven U.S. states. She and Eugene celebrated 50 years of marriage this summer.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene O. Guidotte of Lewiston; one son, Joseph P. Rakowski of Ft. Myers, Fla., and his wife, Katherine; two daughters, Tina-Marie Dietter of San Marcos, Calif., and husband, Brandon and Theresa Allocca of Poland Spring; three sisters, Beatrice Lavertu and Rejane Lemieux of Lewiston, and Lorette Jean, and her husband, Roland, of Poland Spring; she was also the proud grandmother of Amber White, Joseph E. (Cote) Rakowski, Alyssa Rakowski, Allison Rakowski of Ft. Myers, Fla., Timothy (Asti) Davison and Adele Allocca of Poland Spring and Drew and Azelle Dietter of San Marcos, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Aubrey White of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and scores of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph J. Rakowski of California; her parents; and her brothers-in-law, John Lavertu, Bertrand Cloutier and Laurent Lemieux.
