LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary will hear a presentation by Jason C. Libby at noon Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Ramada Inn.

Libby is executive director of the Poland Spring Preservation Society and Park with oversight over four buildings on the National Registry of Historic Places.

The buildings include the Maine State Building, originally built for the Colombian Exposition in Chicago in 1893 and brought back to Maine, and the Bottling Plant Museum, completed in 1907, a unique museum of history and art and of science and water education, respectively.

Libby, a native of Maine, graduated with a bachelor degree in history and political science and a graduate degree in education administration from the University of Maine. His most recent position was as associate dean of students at Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y.

The presentation will be a combination of Poland Spring history with a focus on the water company as well as a short discussion of current issues.

Libby, a member of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, resides in Auburn with his wife and son.

Anyone wishing to hear the speaker or to learn more about Rotary is welcome to attend. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person. Access the club’s Web site at www.lewistonauburnrotary.org for more information and to learn about future speakers.
