LEWISTON – Roland G. Whittier, 75, of Norway, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Monmouth Center on Oct. 12, 1931, the son of Everett and Marion Whittier. He attended schools in Auburn and had been employed at Hillcrest Poultry and later for United Services doing janitorial work for customers like Ames Department Store.
He was an avid New England sports fan, Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. He enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, horseshoes and cribbage. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald G. Whittier, and his wife, Doris, of Sabattus, and Reginald Whittier, and his wife, Irene, of Lewiston; a daughter, Gayle Aube, and her husband, Jeff, of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Stefanie Whittier, Tyler Whittier, Joseph Whittier, Tony Whittier, Nicholas Whittier and Crystal Aube; one great-grandchild, Sydney Adriana Bourgoin; a sister, Shirley Jacobs of Auburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Whittier.
